1. FIBRE OPTICS:

Introduction to Fibre Optics.
Identifying the benefits of optical fibre as a medium of transmission.
Differentiate the types of optical fibres and their characteristics.
Understand the optical fibre communication system and its components.
Recognise the types of fibre optic modes of transmission (single
and multi-modes) as well as their characteristics.
FTTH and FTTB Networks.
Introduction to ribbon splicing.
Field splice-on connectors.
Field mechanic connectors.

2. SPLICING

Cable-end preparation.
Enclosures preparation.
Buffer-tube attachments.
Cables and optic fibre splicing.
Introduction to ribbon cable splicing.
Optic fibre and buffer tubes coiling.
Splice trays attachment.
Enclosure finishing.

3. TESTING

Correctly setting an OTDR machine for performance.
Trace, analyse and interpret events.
Create file names and store OTDR traces.
Utilise the Visual Fault Locator (VFL).
